One look at this handsome dog and you’re sure to fall in love! This is Ty, our Adoptable Dog of the Week. He is an 11-year-old Boxer and German Shepherd mix from New Hampshire. Ty is already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Ty’s Story:

One of the things everyone at WAG wishes for the most this year is for someone to solve the Catch-22 that our wonderful boy Ty is in. Ty is an 11-year-old Boxer-Shepherd cross. Everyone assumes that because he’s older, he must be an infirm old dog who totters around. That assumption is wrong: Ty acts like he’s in the prime of his life and is up for anything you want to do. He loves life and all people and has a wonderful curiosity about the world around him. We almost placed Ty several times last year, but each time the person who wanted him wanted this senior citizen to act like a senior citizen. That isn’t Ty. On the other hand, people who want an active dog generally want a younger dog and won’t consider a senior. We can’t find anyone who wants Ty as the active older boy he is. So we keep rewriting his description and taking more pictures, hoping that this dog, who has perfect house manners and is in perfect health, will find someone who will give him the active life he craves for as long as he craves it. Someone who will make him a part of their life and will include him in the family, so he can go for a walk, run errands in the car (he loves the car), and take a nap with his person. Someone who will give him regular exercise and consistent rules, like all Boxers and Shepherds need. Someone who will smile every time they see his ever-wagging tail and will enjoy having him chew a bone at their feet. Someone who will enjoy this energetic yet well-behaved, loving, fun dog for who he is. Ty needs to be an only pet, and a fenced yard is ideal for him. He’s great with kids, although he is a bit boisterous and powerful for very young kids. WAG only accepts applications from New Hampshire residents and from residents of communities in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts that are on the New Hampshire border.
