Oh my – so many mangoes! Blend a few of these summer staples together for a homemade frozen dog treat that will leave your pup panting.
Oscar is mad for mangoes… and peaches… and strawberries… and pineapples. So I thought to myself: “Hey, why don’t I just combine them all and turn it into a dog-panting cool treat?” And that’s exactly what I did. I bought all the fruits pre-cut and frozen, so all I had to do was defrost, blend and freeze. If this recipe was any easier, it would have made itself!

Mango is a sweet treat that most dogs enjoy. But you may also be excited to learn that it offers some great health benefits for your pooch. Here are a few reasons why you should incorporate mango into your dog’s diet.
A great source of vitamin C, mangos will work to improve your dog’s immune system. This is a great option if you are concerned about your dog being exposed to “bugs” while hanging out with his puppy friends at the dog park. You should also consider giving your dog a boost of vitamin C if he’s currently fighting off an illness.
Another key vitamin that you can find in mangos is vitamin A. This is important for improving and maintaining your dog’s eyesight through all stages of his life. It will help to relieve dry eyes and reduce night blindness. For dogs in their golden years, this is a great way to help slow the decline of their eyesight that often comes with aging.
One concern that usually accompanies feeding fruit is the high levels of natural sugars. You may be surprised to learn that mangos can actually help dogs that are living with diabetes. But, only feed them in moderation. Mangos have a low glycemic index which means that they can help to regular and normalize the levels of insulin in their bodies. This helps to reduce the risk of harmful blood sugar spikes.
