Once upon a time, there was a furry princess… It might not be your typical bedtime story, but this adorable book features your family pet as the main character- and it’s seriously cute.

When she saw how much of a positive impact her family dog had on her own children, Maia Haag, I See Me‘s President and Co-Founder, decided to write a book that would celebrate that unique bond. “If My Dog Could Talk” is a lovely illustrated storybook, completely personalized for your pet, that will make your kids excited about reading or encourage them to bond with their new four-legged friend.

The illustrations are gorgeous, and the story will melt your heart- and your kid’s, too. It’s really easy to customize the storybook to represent your own pooch, since you can choose from 12 different types of dogs, each of which can be further tailored with the color of the coat (there are 4-5 choices for each breed!). Once you pick your pup’s defining traits, you can add family names and a special dedication to make everything completely personalized. If your beloved pet has passed, the company can print out the book in past tense, which will help your kids cope with the loss of their furball.

Personally, I think that this storybook can be a charming, thoughtful gift for dog lovers of any age. The story about doggie mischief and their pure love will definitely put a smile on your face, and the sweet illustrations of your pooch are bound to make you go awww.

As a bonus, you won’t only be giving someone (or yourself!) a lovely gift, but also give back to organizations that help make animal lives better. The company behind the book, I See Me, is partnering with organizations in California, Washington, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin; and next month the San Diego Humane Society will be the company’s partner.
