Banter Bulldogge Basics

The Banter Bulldogge is a great designer breed for anyone who is in search of a loyal, loving, protective, and playful breed. These dogs will enjoy going on adventures with you, and they are also known for being obedient and easy to train, so if you’re new to dog ownership, this could be the breed for you.

The Banter Bulldogge is a cross between a purebred Boxer and a Bulldog.

Origin

The Banter Bulldogge is a designer dog breed that Todd Tripp developed in the late ‘90s. His goal was to recreate the Brabanter Bullenbeisser of 1700s Belgium. Starting with Boxers and other Bulldog breeds from the working group, Tripp combined careful thought, research, and selective breeding in order to create the Banter Bulldogge.

Food / Diet

To keep your dog happy and healthy, feed him a high quality food that is designed specifically for canines. Opt for a brand that uses whole food ingredients while avoiding artificial ingredients and allergens.

Once you have chosen the appropriate food, you can give your dog anywhere from 2 to 3 cups of dry food each day, splitting this amount into multiple feedings. If you want to also give your pet some canned food for dogs, simply reduce the amount of dry food accordingly so your pooch doesn’t end up overeating and gaining too much weight.

If you have any questions regarding what you should feed your dog, or how much he should be eating, consult with your vet. You can also talk to your vet about giving your dog a homemade or raw diet.

Because the Banter Bulldogge is obedient, this breed is also easy to train.

Training

Because the Banter Bulldogge is obedient, this breed is also easy to train. Always use a positive approach, but remain firm so that you can establish yourself as the leader of the pack. Train with consistency, and keep every training session short and engaging. You don’t want to use harsh tactics while training your dog either. Just stick with using plenty of treats, praise, and rewards to reinforce good behavior. Your dog will catch on in no time.

Weight

A large-sized breed, the Banter Bulldogge weighs between 50 and 85 pounds.

Temperament / Behavior

Banter Bulldogges have fantastic personalities. They will get along well with kids, and they will remain loyal and protective to the end. They even make good watchdogs that will alert you to suspicious activity and strangers near your home.

This breed is a lot of fun, and you will find that your dog is always ready to be involved in family activities. Your pet will also be eager to please, as well as eager to play.

Common Health Problems

Like all other hybrid canine breeds, the Banter Bulldogge might be prone to developing the health conditions that most commonly affect its parent breeds. It is always a good idea to be aware of what the potential health problems are so that you can keep an eye out for symptoms. And it is also a good idea to purchase your pet from a reputable breeder who has proof that the parents are healthy and they are housed in a safe and clean environment.

There is no guarantee that your Banter Bulldogge will inherit any of these health problems, and there is no way to predict a dog’s long-term health, but your pet might be susceptible to heart problems, hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia, cancer, epilepsy, allergies, bloat, and eye problems because of its Boxer lineage.

Life Expectancy

The Banter Bulldogge has an average lifespan of 12 to 13 years.

Exercise Requirements

Although the athletic Banter Bulldogge will have less energy when he’s inside the house, he should still be provided with a variety of toys that will keep him occupied and mentally stimulated.

When outside, these dogs love to play and run around. If you have an enclosed backyard, you can let your pet run off-leash. Interact with your pooch, as he will thrive on the attention and affection you provide.

Take your dog on daily walks to give him a good workout and let him release his energy in a positive way. You can also take your pet to the dog park, where he can interact with fellow canines. And if you are an active person who goes jogging or hiking, as a couple of examples, you can take your Banter Bulldogge with you, as he will enjoy the exercise.

Banter Bulldogges have fantastic personalities.

Recognized Clubs

The Banter Bulldogge is not recognized by the American Kennel Club, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed. However, this breed is recognized by the American Pet Registry, Inc. (APRI), the Dog Registry of America, Inc. (DRA), and the International Olde English Bulldogge Association (IOEBA).

Coat

A Banter Bulldogge’s coat will be smooth and short, making grooming easy. This breed sheds an average amount, so it is a good idea to brush your dog’s coat on a regular basis, such as weekly, in order to keep it smooth and healthy, as well as remove excess hairs. You can also bathe your dog when he gets too dirty.

Puppies

Just as you would carefully handle any other puppy, you should make sure that your Banter Bulldogge is treated gently. Give him a safe, warm, and clean environment where he can begin to learn the rules of the house and grow to be big and strong.

It’s best to start training and socializing your Banter Bulldogge as early on as possible. This will ensure that he understands that you’re the boss, and he’ll also become accustomed to interacting with a variety of people and other animals.
