Dogs who ingest high levels of beef thyroid hormone can have symptoms that look similar to Cushing’s syndrome–increased thirst and urination, restlessness and anxiety, and weight loss. When they are no longer consuming the higher levels, the symptoms typically go away but prolonged consumption can make symptoms more severe and include diarrhea, vomiting and labored breathing. If these symptoms happen, it’s recommended that your veterinarian looks over your dog immediately.

The FDA notified Daves about a lot of their product that was found to have elevated levels of the hormone after analyzation. They received complaints about four dogs who consumed it having low Free T4 (fT4) and Thyroid Stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Dave’s volunteered the recall after learning about the results and have suggested that consumers who want a refund or replacement can contact them at 1-888-763-2738 Monday-Friday.

No other products in the Dave’s Dog Food Lineup have been found to have issue.
