When Kaiser, a 2-year-old German Shepherd who has served as a member the Plymouth (MA) Police Department’s K-9 unit, was diagnosed with kidney disease, there was nothing that could be done for him. Because of his rapidly declining health, the decision was made to for him to be put down. And a heroic dog deserves a fitting send off.
As you can see from the picture above, his fellow police officers saluted Kaiser as he walked into the animal hospital for his final vet visit.
His partner, Police Officer Jamie Lebretton, wrote the following on the Plymouth Police Working Dog Foundation’s Facebook page:
“RIP my boy. I could not have asked for a better partner or friend. May you rest easy and wait for me at that sacred bridge. I will be there my friend. I will be there. I will never forget you or our accomplishments. You made me a better person, a better handler, and a better cop. Till we meet again kai. I love you and will miss you daily.”
This story makes us tear up every time we read it. You will be missed Kaiser.
