Shy away from putting down a rug because you can’t clean it of pet stains and fur? Pet Parents need to put down aRuggable’s Rug– and we’ll help you save 15%.

One of the most frustrating parts of pet parenthood has to be home décor. When you’re purchasing furniture or carpeting, your dog is part of the equation. I know my dogs play a huge role in my home’s décor. For the longest time, I couldn’t put down a rug, because Zed would routinely pee on it. But my living room just got a pop of color, thanks to a new rug from Ruggables.

I used to own a rug – a pricy one at that. What was once a $1000 area rug is now a worthless piece of carpet, thanks to Zed. He used that rug as his own personal bathroom. I did get it professionally cleaned, but $80 later I can still smell the distinct scent of urine.

And that’s the problem with traditional rugs – when your dog pees on it or somehow stains it, you need to get it professionally cleaned. And you’re not going to do that too often. Sure, you can spot clean the area, but you can’t rub or scrub it with enough force to get the stain out. And that leads us to the main selling point behind Ruggable’s rugs.

I saw the Facebook ads for Ruggables and what caught my eye was the fact that you could throw the rug in the washing machine. What?!? A machine washable rug… never heard of such a thing.

It sounds like the founder of Ruggable, Jeneva Bell, had the same issue as I did. Her dog ruined a new, expensive rug because the odor from the accident sunk deeply into the thick, structured core. Bell set out to create a rug that could wash as easily as bedding or blankets, while making sure it still looked stylish and similar to a traditional rug. Made and packaged locally in LA and Chicago, there’s a Ruggables selection for every popular design trend and genre so you never have to sacrifice style for washability.

Pros:

    Cons:

All the chemicals and products used in making a Ruggable are non-toxic and considered wearable (like clothing). That means the rugs are not harmful for you, your kids and your pets. The company uses suppliers that are repeatedly inspected and certified to meet or surpass environmental, safety, social, and ethical standards.

The cover is made with 100% polyester, with at 100% polyurethane inner waterproof lining. As for their custom rug pad, the fiber used in its production consists of polyester (95%) made from recycled fiber. The nonslip portion of the rug pad consists of thermoplastic resin (TPR). TPR creates little to no waste during manufacturing as defective product can be melted back to raw material and reused.

Now, let’s take a look at how Ruggable rugs work.

Ruggable’s patented Rug System comes in two pieces: a lightweight Rug Cover and a nonslip Rug Pad. The low-pile and lightweight Rug Cover is stain-resistant, waterproof, and designed to fit conveniently in your home washing machine – even the 8×10 (which is their largest size). As well, the easy-to-clean Rug Pad features a non-slip back, which is made of the same latex-free material used in yoga mats (the Rug Pad is wipe-down only, not machine washable).

Once you get your Ruggable, it’s easy to assemble – just follow these three steps.

      Step 3:

What Comes Out In The Wash

How easy is this bad boy to wash? Well, let me take you through the process:

It took a few days for Zed to pee on the rug – a minor miracle. I’m taking this to mean that he’s claimed it as his own. Oscar took the time to drag his ass across the Ruggable. Hey, it may be low pile, but it’s still effective for scratching your butt.

Both boys like to lay on the rug in the evening while cleaning their paws and chewing on toys. I’d say the new Ruggable is a success.

OMD! I love my Ruggable’s washable rug. There’s now some much needed color in my living room. And because of Zed’s love of peeing on anything lying flat on the ground, I can just pick it up, stick it in the washer, and put it back on the floor. You’d never know that Zed was using it as a pee pad.

I’m even thinking of getting a runner for my hallway. My only obstacle is deciding which one to get!
