Her name is Quimera, which means ‘chimera’ in Spanish. True ‘chimera’ creatures are those who are made up of cells from two or more different embryos, and extremely rare. It’s not known if she is a true chimera, or just a very normal cat with some very unique markings.

Several years ago, a cat named Venus stole the internet limelight looking almost the opposite of this little Quimera. Geneticist Virginia Papaioannou said that Venus was probably not a true chimera, but most likely an extremely unique Calico cat. She believes that that may be the case for this little Quimera.

Regardless of her DNA, she’s adorable and fascinating, and has stolen the hearts of interwebs watchers everywhere just being a sweet little normal cat, though she looks far from normal.
