Fetch a tasty treat for Fido from a gourmet dog food truck

Forget the local chip truck – the Food Truck craze has been taken to the next level. Don’t be surprised to see a dog food truck on your city streets soon.

Dog food trucks are popping up on streets in major cities, offering food, treats and ice cream. And it’s a booming business. Summer is the perfect time to hit up pooches and their owners for a quick bite to eat. You’ll find them at events, farmers’ markets and dog parks.

Angela Meyers of Elizabeth, N.J., launched The Frosty Pooch last July. You’ll find her dog food truck in the New York City area, offering small-batch, dog-friendly ice cream in six flavors that sell for $2 a cup and “pupsicles” for $2.50. Bacon peanut butter flavor is a crowd favorite, she says.

Other cities and trucks to look for include the Sit ‘N Stay Pet Cafe in Orlando, Fido To Go in Chicago, and Bow-Wow Chow in Austin.

What do you think of the dog food truck trend? Would you buy your dog a treat from these trucks? Have you seen these trucks in your city? Please share your thoughts and experiences in the comment section below.
