There are two things we can’t live without here at PetGuide – coffee and dogs. That’s why we need to order an endless supply of Grounds & Hounds coffee!

I love, love, love my morning coffee! In fact, it’s the” kick” to the start of my day, the jet fuel to my engine, the yin to my yang… you get the picture. I’m also a big believer in giving back to my community and am an absolute pushover for anything fuzzy, four-legged, and forgotten. Yes, my pet-kids are all rescues and when I read about an organization that speaks my language and ticks my boxes, I’m not only intrigued by their business model but am already pulling out the plastic to get involved.

The organization is called Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. and with a tag line that reads “every pound saves a hound,” it’s easy to understand where their heart is. The brand is committed to using a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their fair trade organic, whole bean coffee to support area no kill rescue organizations. In fact, 20 percent of all Grounds & Hounds proceeds are donated to a series of rescue partners that include Chicago’s “One Tail at a Time”, D.C.’s “Lucky Dog”, Los Angeles’ “Wags and Walks” and Brooklyn’s “Badass Animal Rescue”, to name just a few of the many.

So what exactly does 20 percent of sales look like, pound for pound?

How can you resist – especially with blends named “Paper & Slippers”, “Morning Walk” and “Sit & Stay.” You’ll start each morning with a little reminder that you’ve made a huge difference in the life of a homeless animal.

Here’s what I find really cool – the proverbial tail is in fact wagging the dog. You see the charitable focus is not an off-shoot of this profitable little business, it was the original objective! Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. was born out of the owners’ desire to find a way to help homeless animals and this, coupled with a passion for exceptional, world-class coffees, is what led to this extraordinary initiative.

Competitively priced, available in light, medium and dark roasts, whole bean or ground format, you too can help save a pooch one cup at a time! Head to the Grounds & Hounds online shop to pick up a perk… and perk up a pooch in need.
