I love sweet potato fries! And even though they are fried, I still tell myself that they are still good for me. Without the deep frying, they are still tasty… and even better for you. The same goes for dogs. They love the taste of sweet potato. I’m seeing more sweet potato treats packaged in pet stores. It gave me the idea of coming up with a Sweet Potato Dog Biscuit Recipe that you could make at home – for a fraction of the cost of a brand-name bag. On the plus side, these homemade treats don’t have any preservative, so I think they are a healthier choice.

Sweet Potato Dog Biscuit Recipe

Makes 30-40 cookies

Ingredients:

1 medium-sized sweet potato

3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 eggs

1 carrot, shredded

Directions:

Because of the natural ingredients, you should keep these treats refrigerated or frozen so that they keep longer. I always freeze a batch and only take out what I need for the week. The rest stay frozen until they are needed.

So how did the Sweet Potato Dog Biscuit Recipe work out for you? Did you make any adjustments or additions to make them even more awesome? We’d love to hear about them so we can try them out. Leave them in the comment section below.
