This Incredible Kickstarter Smart Collar Tracks Your Dog’s Health

How many times have you wished your pooch could tell you where it hurts? Waggit, a collar that tracks your dog’s vitals, location, and activity wants to make that dream a reality.

I’m one of those pet parents that obsessively tracks their pet’s poop, mood changes, and any potential red flags, in hopes to catch early signs of a problem. I mean, not only that dogs usually don’t display tell-tale signs of illness and discomfort, they tend to try and hide their pain until it’s too late.

So, when I heard about Waggit, naturally, I got so excited I squealed a bit. But just a bit. Any news about new wearable tech for pets is more than enough to get bright-eyed, but this smart collar is definitely something special.

If your first thought was that this is Fitbit for dogs, you’re mistaken. Unlike Fitbit, who is just an activity tracker, Waggit is a smart collar designed to monitor every aspect of your pooch’s life and alert you if anything is out of the ordinary. By every aspect, I mean body temperature, respiration rate, vitals, body position, sleep quality, nutrition, activity… Also, the collar is equipped with GPS, so you’ll always know where your furball is. Literally, they thought of everything that an overprotective and worried pet parent would have! (I admit, I’m speaking from experience.)

All of the collected information is easily accessible through a smartphone app, so you’ll be able to check up on your pet and their well-being whenever and wherever you want. The baseline is determined on your dog’s own behavior, so in case that they start exhibiting any weird symptoms or just start acting strange, you’ll get the alert right away. No more peeking at poop and wondering if your dog sleeps so much because they’re lazy or because something’s wrong- Waggit will do it for you.

The Kickstarter campaign has already met and surpassed its initial $25,000 goal, so there is no doubt that these smart collars will hit the market in the near future. In case you want to be an early bird and snag one for yourself, make sure to make a pledge!
