The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is showcasing some amazing tech gadgets pets, including Tractive GPS trackers for cats and dogs.

GPS trackers for dogs are not such a new thing these days, as many companies recognize the usefulness of GPS tracking ability when it comes to our pets.

Many focus on dogs, though, and specifically trackers for their collars, while the kittehs don’t have quite the selection.

But now Tractive, a company that has made GPS trackers for pets their specialty, announced at the CES their updated GPS dog and new cat trackers!

The Tractive GPS Dog tracker has updates that make its form and function even more streamlined and smooth. The new and improved collar has quick-switch batteries that allow you to change the batteries while your dog is still wearing the collar (nice if your dog is already collar-phobic for whatever reason and hates having them taken off and put back on again!). And the old collar had a dedicated app called Tractive Motion, which gave pet owners info about their pets and the activity levels for each. The updated collar now has integrated activity tracking that does all that automatically, and the tracker is easily clipped to the dog’s collar. To remove it, the owner simply presses a button.

New to the Tractive GPS tracker family is the Tractive GPS Cat Tracker. It’s super light-weight and small, and like many cat collars, has a breakaway feature in case a cat gets stuck on something (when it is doing all its wily ninja-like crawling maneuvers). Some argue whether or not it is a true tracker collar if it can easily get out of the collar, but when you are looking for your feline friend in the middle of the night, you have a much better chance of finding her when you have a chance at a tracking system. And, the folks at Tractive have even created an app that will help you find the collar, should it come off, which will at least help give you a better idea of where your cat may be hiding.

The collars will first be released in Europe in the next few months, and though pricing has not yet been declared, Tractive says the cost will be in the same price point as their other products, which average around $70 USD each.
