A big girl with a big heart, this sweet gal is hoping to find her happy furever after! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Starla, a 5 years old American Staffordshire Terrier Mix from Auburn, California. She is spayed, house trained, and crate trained, microchipped, healthy, and ready for a new home. Starla requires a home where she would be an only pet. Older kids are fine but younger than 14 are not recommended due to Starla’s size.

Starla’s Tale

Since she was found as a stray, Starla’s history is not known, but her past didn’t leave a mark on her character- she’s as kind and affectionate as they get. This sweet and friendly gal will be your most loyal companion: she just wants someone that will shower her with love and attention. Generous with slobbering smooches and always by your side, Starla will try to climb in your lap despite her 80 lbs of weight- if you’ve always wanted a big cuddle bug, this is your chance. She is a medium-level energy dog and will do best in an easy-going household, with regular playtime and walks to keep her tail wagging.

Starla has all of her manners and is both house and crate trained, so she’ll fit in great in any environment from the get-go. She also has a few tricks up her sleeve- she knows how to sit on command and is working on retrieving balls during fetch. When it comes to Starla’s requirements, she’d do best in a home without any felines, but can be friendly with another dog. The only “catch” is that Starla doesn’t get along with every pooch- it would be best for her to meet your current pooch to ensure they are a personality match. Starla is good with respectful kids over 14 years of age- she’s too big for younger children as she might inadvertently knock them down during play.
