Furbo 360 Treat Tosser and Camera Review

Everyone’s favorite treat tosser is back – with a new twist. We take the all-new Furbo 360 for a spin.

Now that many of us are back in the office after months of working from home in our PJs and dogs by our side, being apart from our pets feels more difficult than ever. A great way to stay connected with your four-legged bestie while you’re working or traveling is pet cameras, but not all of them live up to the hype – at least not when it comes to my mischief-makers. I wanted something that gives me a crystal-clear picture of everything that’s going on in the house while I’m gone, and still allows me to communicate, reward, and play with my dogs remotely.

When I found out that Furbo, a pet camera that wowed the team at PetGuide with its innovative design a few years back, was getting a much-awaited upgrade, I was more than enthusiastic to give it a try.

The main reason I got excited over the new design was the wide-angle rotating 360° view camera, which leaves no blind spots where my dogs could hide – I can simply rotate the camera until I spot them, wherever they are. And no, it’s not something I have to do manually, as the camera itself has a dog-tracking feature so it will pinpoint your pet as they move to keep you up to date with their shenanigans.

What’s more, the new Furbo pet camera is also equipped with automatic infrared LED night vision, which provides color images in low light, so visibility isn’t reserved for daytime only. Of course, the camera is Full HD 1080p vision with 4x zoom, so you can always expect perfectly clear pictures.

Another great feature is the two-way communication, so I can talk to my pets when I get a bark alert to stop them from yapping their heads off at the sight of a squirrel (my neighbors are super appreciative of this feature, too) or beckon them to come to the camera to treat them to a yummy snack. Or two. And yes, in case you’ve missed it, Furbo does have a bark alert feature that sends notifications to your smartphone when your dog is being loud, which is a heaven-sent for pet owners that live in apartments or those whose dogs have a form of separation anxiety and start barking (or wailing) as soon as you step out of the house.

The two-way communication is great as you can promptly react and give out a command they are trained to respond to and stop barking, or, if you’re like most of us, just use the feature to baby talk to your dog and redirect their attention from whatever it is that got them yapping and treat them to something tasty to get them to behave. Hey. if it works – it works.

Of course, when talking about the treats, let’s not forget Furbo’s treat-tossing feature that’s the best part of the camera if you’re a dog. My pets don’t care about fancy new wide-angle rotating 360° view camera or night vision, but boy oh boy, do they care about treats. As before, Furbo can toss out treats on command, which has my boys wagging their tails with joy, and it’s a feature we all appreciate (me because of the perks of bribery, and they because they are the ones being bribed). This feature also got a makeover – with the new adjustable mechanism, the sound of tossing is much quieter, and you can now choose between small or large treats to suit any doggo’s preference.

The capacity of the treat container is around 100 treats so I don’t have to worry about refilling it for a good long while and I’m always ready to flip the switch and toss the treat when needed. I found that smaller round treats work best, something that’s around 0.4” or 1cm in diameter, and that works perfectly for me as both of my dogs are small. My advice, if you have a large breed dog is just to double up on the treats if they are smaller than what they’re used to – or use their kibble in place of treats.

The Verdict

The Furbo 360 is a must-have for pet parents who are stuck at the office all day and want to keep their pets (and themselves) entertained. I love the 360° view camera, which was a feature the original Furbo treat tosser sorely needed. And the price is still great – the new and improved Furbo is $210, not much more than the original (plus, there’s a 20% coupon that drops the price to $190).
