Benefits of Chickpeas

A common ingredient used in natural or premium brands of commercial dog food, chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans) are not only safe for dogs, but they are also full of great nutritional value. They are a source of protein, potassium, fiber, magnesium, folate, vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. When shopping for chickpeas, the best option is to get them either fresh or dried. If you do opt to use canned chickpeas, read the can carefully as they often have a very high sodium content that can be dangerous for your dog.

Benefits of Cottage Cheese

When considering healthy food options for your dog, cottage cheese likely didn’t cross your mind. However, cottage cheese is a great option to include in your dog’s food and treats, or even enjoy on its own. A little cottage cheese mixed with white rice is a great solution to a sensitive or upset stomach, providing your dog with an easy to eat and digest meal to encourage recovery. It’s also a common choice when filling KONG toys or other treat toys. Mix in some kibble, healthy fruits and vegetables or a couple of your dog’s favourite treats before placing it in the toy and freezing it. This is a great way to avoid boredom and keep your dog entertained.
