Any dog can develop allergies because food, environmental factors or fleas at any point in their lives. But there are some breeds that are more susceptible to having allergies. We’re going to go over the Top 10 dog breeds with allergies. And it’s important to note that even though some breeds are more prone to allergies, it doesn’t mean they will develop allergies.

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier: The happy-go-lucky breed is known to suffer from flea allergies. On the plus side, there are many things you can do to keep the fleas off your Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.

Shih Tzu: This hypoallergenic dog can suffer from allergies of his own. This breed has been known to be allergic to certain dyes in dog food. If you have a Shih Tzu, you may want to research organic foods or try making your own.

Cairn Terrier: This scrappy fellow has an itch to scratch. That’s because this breed can suffer from fleas and skin allergies, which can lead to excessive scratching, licking, and skin rashes.

English Cocker Spaniel: This breed is susceptible to skin allergies. Your dog may require special food and gentle shampoo to correct this condition. Because skin allergies can be food related, make sure you feed your dog high-quality kibble.

Rhodesian Ridgeback: This breed loves to eat – he’s not picky. And this can lead to problems, especially since the Rhodesian Ridgeback can suffer from skin allergies and ear infections related to food. Monitor your dog’s diet carefully and adjust if necessary.

Welsh Terrier: Yet another Terrier susceptible to allergies, the Welsh Terrier is prone to skin allergies. Keep an eye out for excessive scratching and rashes, and consult a vet if your suspect an allergy.

American Eskimo Dog: This breed has a sensitive stomach. The American Eskimo Dog can be allergic to some foods, including salmon. If you’re buying commercial dog food, check the ingredients to ensure your dog’s diet won’t cause allergic issues.
