Thousands of homeless animals can expect a full bowl of food, thanks to the WellPet’s $1.7 million donation of pet food to in-need shelters.

Taking their pledge to Responsibility, Passion and Commitment to heart, WellPet Foundation, a subsidiary of the Wellness Natural Pet Food brand, has delivered their largest single donation on record. The company has donated a staggering $1.7 million worth of pet food to a number of homeless dog and cat shelters throughout Arizona and Indiana.

The shelters – all adoption partners of PetSmart Charities – are thrilled with the tremendous show of support which represents the most substantial donation the charity has received to date. “WellPet’s generous $1.7 million Wellness pet food donation will make it possible for many of our animal welfare partners to not only feed homeless pets, but use the money they would have spent on food to make life better in other ways, too, for the pets in their care,” says Jan Wilkins, Executive Director of PetSmart Charities.

This means that thousands of homeless pets will benefit from the donation. The shelters receiving the donation include the Heartland Small Animal Rescue in South Bend, Indiana, and, in Arizona, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Pima County Animal Care in Tucson, Maricopa County Animal Care in Phoenix and Pinal County Animal Care in Casa Grande.

“We’re sincerely honored to have the opportunity to join PetSmart Charities in supporting the wellbeing of dogs and cats at these shelters,” says Chanda Leary Coutu, Senior Communications Manager for WellPet.

Way to go Wellness – two paws up and three woofing cheers for this generous donation! We’re sure that because of your gift, many dogs and cats will be going to bed with a belly full of good food.
