Does an apple a day keep the vet away? Well, it can’t hurt! A good source of fiber, and vitamin A and C, apples are also great for helping keep your dog’s teeth clean and breath fresher. And fall is the perfect time of year to pick up some delicious apples to put in our Apple Crisp Dog Treat Recipe. These would be a wonderful treat for your dog on Thanksgiving, in lieu of apple pie.

Apple Crisp Dog Treat Recipe

Makes about 40 medium-sized cookies

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups whole wheat flour

½ cup oats

¼ cup ground flax seeds

1 apple

1 egg

1/3 cup coconut oil

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup water

Directions:

I made a big bushel of these Apple Crisp treats, so I decided to give them away to doggy friends as a little Thanksgiving present. If you’re visiting over the holidays and your hosts have pups, a festive bag of these homemade dog treats would make a great “thank you” gift.
