Are you an on-the-go pet parent who happens to be eco-conscious? We’ve got a collapsible dog bowl for you – the PawNosh Fire Hose Bowl.

At Oxgut Hose Co., founder Laura Le Wunsch’s efforts have collected and upcycled 90,000 feet, or 17 miles, of landfill-bound firehose. The retired fire hose is used to make products ranging from purses and chairs to, now, a line of collapsible dog bowls.

Sachi Ushihara, co-founder of PawNosh, partnered with Wunsch on the brand’s new travel bowls. “We approached her with our idea because we knew there were untapped applications in the pet space for the hose she currently reclaims for her company’s projects in home decor, furnishings, and personal accessories,” Ushihara said. “Fire hose is water-friendly, super durable, easy to clean, and collapsible. The idea for the Fire Hose Bowl came to life by developing a thoroughly vetted eating and drinking surface (silicone) and coupling that with fire hose as a sturdy, yet flexible, outer wall.”

PawNosh, known for their 100-percent-recycled glass bowls, continue their commitment to US-based sourcing and manufacturing with the travel bowls. All the firehouse is sourced by Oxgut in the US. And, according to Ushihara, “Every component of our bowl, from the hose to the silicone, webbing, and thread, [is] produced in the USA, and each piece is hand-sewn in Northern California.”

The Fire Hose Bowl is available in three colors – Royal, Khaki and Cabernet – in a single size. It’s large enough to fill with food or water but collapses to a size that can easily fit in a backpack or even a pocket. Plus, the bowls are dishwasher safe.

“We created the Fire Hose Travel bowl to offer a safe, sustainable and stylish option for pets and their owners on the go,” Ushihara said. “The inner bowl that holds food and water is composed of non-toxic, food-grade silicone. Many canvas- and nylon-based travel bowls are of questionable composition, some are treated with waxes or other coatings for waterproofing, and none are well vetted. We wanted to be sure that our bowl was 100 percent safe.”
